    postServer's Up

So the power supply on the server has been dead for a while now. The server is a small form factor machine that needs an unconventional (read: impossible or very expensive to replace) power supply. This week I finally sat down and created a bit of a frankentstein machine: I took out the old, dead power supply, and connected a separate old, but still alive conventional power supply I had lying around. This trick is that the connectional power supply does not fit in the server. It's sitting outside of the case, with all the cables running into the hole where the exhaust fan for old supply would have been. At least it works.

Anyway, I don't know if I'll ever update this again. Likely will I will do something with the web server on this system... just not sure what as yet.

    postTooth Fairy

Alice lost a tooth today... and I mean "lost": she can't find it. I'm pretty sure it's in the u-bend of the bathroom sink. She was disappointed not to be able to put it under her pillow, until Jaci suggested she leave a picture. Here is what Alice (all by herself) came up with.

    Alice Tooth Fairy Letter

If the image doesn't work, the text reads:

Dear Tooth Fairy. Here is a picture of my tooth. I lost it for real and I am telling the truth. From Alice

Alice knows it rhymes: that was the point. Not only that, it has meter.

    postParent-Teacher Conference

Alice's parent/teacher conference was this week, and I'm so proud. Everything we saw that was objectively graded was 100%. She hasn't missed a single question on any test or assignment.

Melody (while helping Alice try on her dance costume):

"Okay, now give me the tutu."

    Alice' response:

    "Here you go-go."

Alice went bowling today with her girl troop.  On leaving the bowling alley I ask her if she had fun:

    "Yeah"

Did you have a whole lot of fun?

    "Yeah!"

Do you want to go again some time?

    "Well... I don't think so..."

    postLincoln Children's Zoo

This is a couple week old now, but we visited the Lincoln Children's Zoo a few weeks ago. Most of the photos are on Melody's facebook profile, but I wanted to share this one here:

I offered her a snack during church this morning.  Her response:

    "No, I'm hungry for God!"

    postMoving, and Outage

As most anyone who reads this should already know, we're moving to Nebraska.  Things get started the 20th (Sunday) after church, when we load up the moving van.  We'll spend most of the day Monday driving, and then unload on Tuesday, just 3 days before Christmas.

Since this site is hosted in our home, that means an extended outage starting probably on Saturday and lasting until whenever we have internet access set up at the house.   I don't know when that will be.
